Gordon Lai is a California licensed real estate agent, accomplished property manager, and
entrepreneur with a background in Digital Enterprise Management from the University of
Toronto, where he graduated with honors. After beginning his career in technology, Gordon
entered the food and beverage industry in 2013, acquiring the U.S. franchise rights for the
popular Korean soft-serve ice cream brand Milkcow. He successfully launched its flagship North
American location in Fremont, California, in 2014 and expanded the brand into major cities,
including New York, Las Vegas, and Chicago, while also supporting its growth into Canada,
Mexico, and Dubai.
Following this success, Gordon founded the boba tea brand Milktopia in San Francisco’s Sunset
District. Spurred by the challenges of the Taraval L Improvement Project, he joined the
Chinatown Merchants United Association of San Francisco to advocate for
non-English-speaking merchants, helping ensure their voices reached government officials and
the broader community. Gordon’s career reflects his commitment to community development,
innovative growth, and entrepreneurship. He hopes his contributions will help foster the
continued development and improvement of the Sunset District community.
